Stereotype Kids: joyful and blended vision of kids' clothing, where self-expression knows no boundaries

StereoType is pioneering gender-inclusive clothing that celebrates individuality by dressing beyond gender norms. The brand’s founder, Elizabeth Brunner, was inspired to create StereoType as a result of watching her kids dress themselves without following the societal  “rules” of gendered clothing. This led Elizabeth to create a brand that celebrated the joy of dressing and expressing. As Elizabeth watched her girl-boy twins create their own ‘blended style’ mixing and matching items from each other’s closets, she herself  started to unlearn all of the rules of gendered fashion that she collected  throughout her life. She created StereoType as a way for her to share the joy that her kids have experienced in creating their wardrobes and to advocate for self-expression of all humans, especially the small ones.

Just like many entrepreneurs who look to solve a problem, when she started looking around the kids sections at the major retail stores, she realized that there were only “the girls” and “the boys” sections but nothing that was “gender inclusive ” that gave kids the freedom to express themselves outside the confines of those two sections and celebrate individuality.

StereoType is not just about designing and selling clothing, it’s about the idea of moving beyond a barrier that doesn’t really exist and being our true selves. That’s what Elizabeth’s kids taught her and continue to teach her about fashion and dressing beyond gender. In August 2023, StereoType launched its second capsule collection featuring stylish, gender-inclusive wardrobe staples including a Hot Pink French Terry Blazer, Washed Camo Zip Front Button-Down Shirt, Chambray Button-down Zip Shirt, Camo No-tie Zip Tie and a reversible hot pink and black Boombox Treasure Bag. StereoType’s small batch collection features limited quality items that are sustainably made in San Francisco.

StereoType’s mission is to break down gender boundaries when it comes to clothing and celebrate authentic self-expression for kids and adults!
